Canadian Mental Health Association's Mental Health week is quickly approaching, and we have found ourselves in a familiar setting.
Although many people have found ways to cope with these unprecedented times, 40% of Canadians feel their mental health has deteriorated
since the onset of the pandemic. Although only 1 of 5 people experience mental illness or a mental health issue in any given year,
5 out of 5- that's ALL of us -have mental health, and good mental health isn't about being happy all the time. In fact, a
mentally healthy life includes the full range of human emotions-even the uncomfortable ones like sadness, fear and anger. Also,
pushing these emotions down, or bottling them up will only cause them to come out in other ways. Feeling these emotions are part
of being human and focusing on these intense emotions will not make them worse. In fact, one of the best ways to quiet emotions
is to give them a VOICE.
If your emotions are overwhelming, persistent and/or are interfering with your daily functioning, it's important to seek mental health support.
